Introduction

Modern Russia comes nearer to commonworld standards in all items. This process concerns the freedom of Mass Media. In our days Mass Media takes a big part in our life, because we get three quarters of all information from the radio, television, Internet, newspapers, e.t.c. But this kind of freedom does not always influence positively to development of the teenager. So, that is why I have chosen this theme.

The aim of my work is to reveal, what kind of Mass Media is the most popular through teenagers.

The tasks of my work are:

-to study the literature of the theme of research

-to reveal the most important kinds of Mass Media for education and development of the teenagers

- to analyse the role of Mass Media in realization of the life plans of teenagers

Classification and functions of Mass Media

Mass Media is an independent system of the public issue of information; wich has its own contents, form, ways, functions and determined level of organization.

There are a lot of kinds of Mass Media. The main kinds are television, radio, printed editions, Internet.

The basic functions of Mass Media are:

1) communicative function

2) directly – organizing function

3) ideological function

4) culture – educational function

5) advertising– reference function

6) recreational function

The governments of different countries do different administration bills to limit influence of Mass Media to development of the teenager. For example, in Great Britain, it is a 1990 year Law about announcement of ITC. Unfortunately, in our country there are no laws and no restrictions wich can limit freedom of Mass Media.

Opinions of Russian people about Mass Media are always different. Some people see only positive aspects, some people see only negative aspects.

It is known, that there is frequently a manipulation at Media. And there are two opinions about this fact. The first group of people thinks that manipulation is really better than physical violence. This group of people thinks that manipulation is a big discovery of mankind. The second group of people defends the liberty, when the mind of person must stay clear. They think that manipulation of the people’s consciousness is immoral and unlawful.

If the person has given in to temptation, no one reasonable argument could help him. And it is known, that it is better to lie in the sofa and watch TV, than to filter a lot of information.

Practical part of research

I have made an interrogation to reveal, what kind of Mass Media is the most popular through teenagers. I have done it at the Palace of the Youth Creation for their conference.

By results of interrogation I can make following conclusions:

The most interesting and useful information teenagers get from TV (The first place in a rating of the importance), from the books (the second) and from the school (the third). Everybody knows that fact, that modern teenagers do not use books and they prefer using the Internet. So why has the analysis shown opposite version? I suppose, it is so, because I have done all my work on base of the Palace of the Youth Creation, where teenagers are more intelligent, than usual teenagers. It is only my opinion, it can be not so.

Absolutely other situation has arisen at the analysis of the second question. In opinion of teenagers, from the listed sources most useful for education are: school (62%), books (60%) and establishments of additional education (47%) I should say that the establishments of additional education from one of last places in a rating of the importance have come in the third of the leaders. There was an unexpected fact that the Internet as an origin of the useful information have been chosen only in 43% of teenagers.

Conclusion

In conclusion I should say that the problems of Mass Media were not scaly studied, but it has been seen from my research that teenagers can not live without some kinds of Mass Media.

I should repeat that Mass Media is independent system of the public issue of information; wich has its own contents, form, ways, functions and determined level of organization.

The most popular kind of Mass Media is television.

Some kinds of Mass Media can cause aggression.

There is a manipulation in some kinds of Mass Media.
