Ходмероприятия:

  • Hello, dear children! Glad to see you. Today we'll play the game «Star hour». Our topic is «Great Britain». Let’s remember the places of interest in Great Britain, British holidays and traditions and play with the English letters.
  • -Twenty eight pupils will take part in our game. The game consists of several tours. If your answer is correct you will get «a star». You’ll get nothing if your answer is wrong.

    TOUR I

    -Look at the blackboard! You can see the map of Great Britain. Come here, find all parts of this country and fix their symbols.

  • I want you to listen to my stories. I’ll describe different places of interest in London. You can see the numbers of the places on the screen and you will show the corresponding cards with the numbers on your desks.

  • Descriptions:

  • It is a clock in the tower and it’s a big bell. You can hear it every hour.
  • It is a palace where the Queen lives when she is in London.
  • It is a royal church. The coronation of all British Kings and Queens took place there. Some famous people are buried there.
  • It is a famous bridge across the Thames.
  • In different times it was used as a fortress, a prison and a palace, but now it is a museum.
  • It is a place where the British Government sits. It is situated not far from Westminster Abbey.
  • It is the central square of London. On the column in the centre there is a statue of Admiral Nelson who defeated the French at the Battle of Trafalgar.

    Description:

  • British people celebrate this day on December 25. It is a religious holiday and one of the happiest holidays of the year. Christians celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.
  • British people celebrate this holiday on February 14. It is a day of love and friendship. They send greeting cards to their sweethearts and friends and ask them to «Be My Valentine».
  • On the second Sunday in May British people honor their mothers. On that day people visit their mothers and give them presents and «A Mother’s Day Card».They try to help their mothers and make something special for them.
  • Children like this day very much. They play jokes and tricks on other people, even on teachers.
  • The symbol of this holiday is «Jack- o-lantern». People make it from a pumpkin. On this day children wear masks and witch’s and ghost’s costumes. They walk door to door and shout «trick or treat».
  • This holiday is celebrated on a Sunday in April or May. The week before this day people color eggs. On this day children get chocolate eggs and rabbits.
  • This day celebrates the start of a new year. People celebrate it on the first day of January, but the celebration actually begins on December 31.
